Boarding Trains

from Left On Central by Silvergirl

lyrics

There are hearts and there are bones
And shifting sheltered homes
That sink by inches to the sea.
Caught a glimpse of who I am
In passing ships tonight
And silent looks you gave to me.

An ocean wide and unafraid
To carry us away
Who think in heavy double doors.
A disappear without a trace
To lie somewhere beneath
The patterns of our marble floors.

I watched the water pull me back in.

Passion like a picture framed
Seen but never reached
For when your close it don't look the same.
Flooded fast as seasons change
And harvest fields are breeched
As rising water tops it banks.

I watched the water pull me back in.

I wonder if you'll understand
At least that would give one of us
An idea of what's in store.
But who am I to lift a word
When I've never lifted a hand
for things I thought worth fighting for?

So I sit and gather change
And weight it in my hand
As silver faces stare at me.
Across the tracks where other stand
Boarding trains for place
That they hope will set them free.
